Band Flyer Assignment |
2006-10-10 10:42:13 |
Hey everyone! The band flyers were finally finished and sent last week. It was an awesome process and I was glad to be a part of it! Here’s how it went down…
We started brainstorming with the little info that was first given to us and really got rolling after we found out it was a marching band competition (not jazz band or just a band competition). I worked on it alone with Danielle—the other interns had already played around with it before we got to it.
We started out with a couple of designs: one with a faded picture of marching band members in the background, one with the words “Battle of the Marching Bands” coming out of a tuba, and another with faded out sheet music as the background. Since I love art and designing things, this was a great opportunity to learn about InDesign, which both Garth, Redhead Production Artist, and Danielle, a graphic design intern, kindly showed me.
Last Tuesday was the day that the flyers needed to be sent in, so I made some changes and worked with Jeffrey, the Creative Director, on another design: a football field. In the end, there were four designs to send and the client has already picked one!
So what else do I do here besides help to create band flyers? Well, as an intern, it’s all about learning new things and being able to see and experience parts of both sides of the advertising field. I’ve met with people from both the creative and the financial sides of the office. Although I personally like art and creativity, it was still interesting to see what the account executives and the rest of the financial team do here. I’ve learned media kit information, searched for job jackets, entered and fixed insertion orders, researched images, brainstormed names for condos, designed and created flyers, proofread ads, and met some pretty crazy people! Those are the kinds of things I do here as an intern, and it’s quite awesome, I would have to say. I love the laid back environment and will hopefully intern here next summer!

Then after that we came up with questions for the Teen Driving campaign.
Now were posting this blog
