TECORE
Announces Next Generation VOIP, SS7/IP and ATM Applications for
AirCore® Platform
At SUPERCOMM '99, Company Will
Demonstrate Switching System that Delivers Wireless, Wireline, and
Prepaid Services with IP and ATM Integration
COLUMBIA, Md., May 27, 1999-TECORE,
a privately held company that develops and markets software-driven,
multi-service switching systems for the converging wireless, wireline,
and IP networks, announced today the development of Voice over Internet
Protocol (VoIP), SS7/IP signaling integration, and asynchronous
transfer mode (ATM) uplinks for its flagship AirCore Platform switching
system. These developments position the AirCore Platform for the
current migration of voice and data networks to packet-based communications
as well as the future evolution of wireless technologies to the
third generation.
TECORE will demonstrate its AirCore system at the company's exhibit
booth (#8439) during SUPERCOMM '99, June 8-10, at the Georgia World
Congress Center in Atlanta.
This next generation switching system provides true integration
between IP-based broadband networks and traditional circuit-switched
narrowband networks. Carriers now can transport voice, data, and
SS7 signaling traffic through IP and ATM networks, as well as through
traditional T1/E1 circuits. By sending real-time voice, data, and
SS7 traffic through data networks such as the corporate LAN, WAN,
and the Internet (rather than through the traditional PSTN), carriers
can decrease communications costs through the reduction of circuits
needed to support the traffic.
AirCore is the first and only switching platform on the market that
can support multiple wireless protocols AND wireline applications
simultaneously to give carriers in small-to-medium-size, rural,
and emerging markets unique competitive advantages in the new age
of converging services. The AirCore platform interfaces with all
major wireless technologies (including GSM, CDMA, TDMA, and AMPS)
for cellular and PCS operators, provides a fully integrated prepaid
package, and offers tandem switching and wireline services for IXCs
and CLECs.
"The integration of VoIP, SS7/IP, and ATM technologies into
the AirCore Platform provides a new dimension in network flexibility
for operators in small-to-medium-size markets," said Jay Salkini,
TECORE president. "With these new capabilities, operators now
can take advantage of the Internet and broadband networks to carry
voice, data, and SS7 traffic reliably, as well as offer a new class
of services to compete effectively in the converging wireless, wireline,
and IP networks."
